History of the Bathurst Estate
and The Old Kennels

Intended as a relaxing, rural retreat to escape and appreciate nature with meadows, woodlands, parkland and scenic walking routes to explore, Cirencester Park forms part of the Bathurst Estate and has been in the Bathurst family for over 300 years. A short walk from Cirencester town centre, this Grade I Historic Parkland was co-designed by renowned poet and landscape gardener, Alexander Pope the first Earl Bathurst. The Park is the perfect place to enjoy a countryside walk with its attractive woodland, impressive avenues and historic follies including Pope’s Seat created as a tribute to the poet.
